It's been too long since my last post on here. Since my last post, I've had a spring break vacation. My colleagues Nicolas, Erin Marie and Cindy met up with some Vancouver visitors to the Middle Kingdom- Em's brother Conner and my buddy Anthony. We mucked stuff up around the capital city of Beijing! Unfortunately, my girlfriend Cathy didn't come with us on our adventures, but we had fun regardless.
Nicolas, Cindy and I went to Beijing via overnight rail. We got to our cheap hotel near Zhangzizhong Lu at around 9 AM. The area's a great strategic location to stay if you're in Beijing. It's near many hutongs and is easily accessed by the subway.

At the Summer Palace |
We met up with Erin Marie and her brother Conner at the Summer Palace soon after. It was a really nice day, but holy cow was it busy. China was celebrating May Day and Beijingren came out of the woodwork.

That evening, Cindy, Nicolas and I had a cheap dinner and picked up my buddy Anthony from the subway station.
The next morning, we went to the 798 Art District. Very very cool place.

As you can see, Nick and I learn from our students well. |

Kyoto
Meanwhile...back in February... from traveling in a group to flying solo...

Kyoto. The ancient and cultural capital of Japan. Donning my MacArthur aviators to make a point. |

A garden near the Kinkaku-ji. Kyoto is a very very beautiful city. |

I splurged in Kyoto. Stayed in a very clean and homely ryokan. |
